Features
Realtime monitoring
Chance prediction
Based on our algorithm, you will get presented a chance percentage for your selected location. As soon as the chance exceeds the thresholds 25%, 50% and 75%, you’ll receive a push notifitication.
HPI & Kp-index
This app assist you to monitor the hemispheric disturbance and follow the measured and forecasted Kp-index very easily.
Solar wind data
Realtime monitoring of the solarwind from the DSCOVR satellite. This app also gives an indication when to expect the particles on Earth.
Cloud forecast next hours
Based on your location the app gives you the cloud forecast for the next hours, segmented in high-, mid- and low-clouds.
Aurora Now
Webcams
Is the first Aurora already visible faintly in the sky? Of is Lady Aurora already dancing around? We use a few webcams in the Arctic to monitor the actual conditions well.
Magnetometers
As soon as there is an impact, the magnetometers in the Arctic will respond immediately. That means, Aurora NOW!
Kp-index
The measured Kp is the average measured K-index from all stations from the last hours. You can use it as a guide to estimate at what latitude Aurora might be visible.
Short term forecast
Solar wind
The four most important parameters are displayed in this app. The more parameters point to the right direction, the more intense the Aurora Borealis are expected to be.
Kp-index
The Kp forecast is an estimate of what the Kp-index might be in the next hour. You can use it as a guide to estimate at what latitude the Aurora might be visible.
Aurora Oval
The ‘Aurora Oval’ indicates the current chance of observing the Aurora Borealis within the upcoming mentioned period. The warmer the color, the higher the chance of actual Northern Lights.
Long term forecast
Kp-index
Even for the next days we are able to present an indication of what the highest Kp-index could be. And again, you can use it as a guide to estimate at what latitude the Aurora Borealis might be visible.
Solar disk
Thanks to the solar disk images, we are able to detect the coronal holes and solar flares and if these are directed towards the Earth.
Solar wind prediction
This feature helps us to receive a 1-4 day advanced warning of solar wind structures and Earth-directed coronal mass ejections that cause geomagnetic storms.
General features
Push notifications
As soon as the chance percentages exceeds a certain threshold, you’ll receive a push message for your selected location.
Change location
Without using GPS, you are able to select your favorite location for receiving the Northern Lights chance and the cloud forecast.
Save data
If you are out in the field, you can easily reduce the amount of data.
